From the maker
The joke stopped being funny about two hundred years ago. He is still telling it.
Motley Tam made a living saying what nobody else at court was allowed to say, which worked right up until it didn’t. Now he holds the little skull scepter high like a toast, free hand reaching out toward whoever is nearest, grin fixed because there is nothing left of his face to change it. The cap still has all three points, and somewhere in the castle the bells still ring.
Texture Stacked In Layers: Medusa built the jester from the neck down in distinct bands: a pleated ruff, a criss-cross laced bodice, a scalloped peplum and then torn skirts dissolving into the post. Each band is a different texture, which makes him the best model in the set for a drybrush. One pass picks out the lacing and the ruff separately with no masking. The miniature skull on the scepter is a deliberate echo of his own, so give them the same treatment.
