The wave broke. Then it stood up.

Sailors on the reef coast call it Undertow, and they stopped arguing about whether it was real after the second ship. It rises straight out of a curling breaker, the crest still folding over at its waist, and from there up it is all shoulders and reaching hands. Spray hangs off its fingers in beads. The face is a snarl inside a crown of foam, and the pose leans forward like the whole sea is behind it, pushing.

A Wave That Already Looks Wet: The curl at the base is cut with deep troughs and rounded crests, and clear resin turns that into real depth. A blue or teal ink glaze pools in the troughs on its own and leaves the crests pale, so the foam paints itself. Finish with a gloss varnish and the beaded droplets on the hands and crest catch the light like water. The back of the wave is broad and smooth, a good place to practise a gradient from deep blue to clear.
