MUSTER ROLL: THE BARROW GUARD. Sworn to the tomb a thousand years ago. Still on shift.

These were a king’s household troops, buried in their armor so they could keep standing watch. They took the order literally. Ten skeletons in mail skirts and plate, every helm crowned with stretched bat wings, every warrior behind a tall riveted kite shield. Most carry straight swords, one hefts a bone-hilted mace, and the standard bearer flies a tattered banner under a carved bat.

A Painter’s Shield Wall: Those long, smooth kite shields are the freehand space of the whole army. Paint a heraldic device once and repeat it down the line, or leave them for a metallic and a heavy wash. Mail, plate and bone give three textures that each take a different technique.

On the Battlefield: The elite heart of the line. Put them where the enemy hits hardest and let the Barrow Knights do the charging.

At the Table: Guardians of a king’s barrow that wake when the seal breaks. The banner bearer makes a natural captain for the party to target.

Building a bigger unit? Each set is 10 models, one of each sculpt. Set the quantity to 2 for a 20 model regiment, or 4 for a horde. Kings of War unit bases line up the same way: two Troop bases make a Regiment footprint.
