The A-2 Deck Jacket was introduced by the U.S. Navy in the 1960s as a modern successor to the earlier N-1 jacket. Designed for sailors working on open ship decks, it offered improved mobility, weather resistance, and comfort. Featuring a simplified silhouette, fold-down collar, and durable cotton shell, it replaced the heavier materials of its predecessor with more practical choices like acrylic pile lining and wool ribbed cuffs.
