West Point is a twill before it is a place: the dense, smooth cotton cloth that took its name from the cadet uniforms of the U.S. Military Academy, and the fabric chino trousers were made of at their best. Momotaro weaves its version from a blend of American and Giza cotton — the latter an extra-long staple Egyptian fiber — and puts the finished cloth through a special post-processing that draws out the softness those long fibers carry. The result has the tight, clean face of a proper twill with a hand closer to a worn-in favorite than to new cotton.

The shorts are trouser-inspired: a clean front, a slim cut with a moderately relaxed silhouette that leaves room through the thigh, and a short inseam of about 10" that sits above the knee. They go with the same things a good pair of chinos goes with, which is almost everything. 100% cotton. Made in Japan.

Fit Notes: This model fits true to size — the waist measures about an inch over the tagged size, in line with most global American brands. The shorts are produced in even-numbered sizes only, so if you usually wear an odd size, take the size below: a 30 fits like an American 31, a 32 like a 33. The cut is slim with room through the thigh, with a rise that sits at the natural waist and a 10" inseam. The twill will give slightly at the waist with wear. We don’t recommend sizing down beyond that, as starting too tight may cause discomfort and alter the intended fit of the garment.
