Momotaro’s West Point twill — a dense, smooth cotton woven from a blend of American and extra-long staple Giza cotton and put through a special post-processing that draws out the softness of the long fibers — here goes into a wide short with a relaxed silhouette, the proportion of a pair of military trousers cut off just above the knee.

The details follow that reference. The front carries two deep pleats on each side, which give the width its drape and open up room through the seat and thigh, with slanted side pockets and a two-button metal waistband closure. At the back, two flap pockets close with a single button, and side adjusters with metal buckles let you set the waist the way officers’ trousers did — belt loops are there if you want them, but you will not need them. In Khaki, the color the originals came in. 100% cotton. Made in Japan.

Fit Notes: This model fits true to size — we recommend taking your usual size, and using the side adjusters to fine-tune the waist. The shorts are produced in even-numbered sizes only, so if you usually wear an odd size, take the size below. The cut is wide and relaxed through the seat and thigh, with double pleats adding room at the front; the twill will give slightly at the waist with wear. We don’t recommend sizing down beyond that, as starting too tight may cause discomfort and alter the intended fit of the garment.
