Japan Blue’s rebrand took almost everything off the jean. The new selvedge lineup is built on the idea that a pair should be judged by two things — the fit and the indigo — and the JMJE1900 is that idea in its loosest form: a high rise, extra room through the waist and seat, and a leg that drops with real volume toward the hem, cut to hang away from the body rather than follow it. Relaxed, balanced, and free of anything that reads as decoration.

The fabric is an original 12oz sanforized selvedge denim, woven at Japan Blue’s own mill in Kojima, Okayama. It has the classic look of traditional shuttle-loom cloth with a lighter weight and a softer hand than the look suggests, which makes it an easy wear from the first day. The warp is dyed in pure indigo, so the fades come in as a natural, faithful blue rather than a grey cast.

Construction follows the same restraint: a UNIVERSAL Japan® metal zipper fly, copper rivets, a blue cowhide leather patch and a blue selvedge ID — the quiet marker of the new line. Sanforized and one-washed. 100% cotton. Made in Japan.

Fit Notes: This model runs slightly large, and is only produced in even-numbered sizes. Compared to most global American brands, we recommend sizing down one from your usual size for the intended fit. The denim is sanforized and has been one-washed, so no further shrinkage is expected. With regular wear, the waistband will stretch slightly, allowing the fit to settle comfortably over time. We don’t recommend going down more than one size, as starting too tight may cause discomfort and alter the intended fit of the garment. If you fall between two sizes, we recommend sizing down.
