A loose fitting, straight sided top, I call this design 'hitoe,' which means unlined. This versatile top can be worn on its own, like a blouse, or over something else like a light weight jacket. It is sewn from a gorgeous Japanese kimono silk with a design of blue and black butterflies on a cream colored background. The collar is a light blue silk woven with diagonal crisscrossing lines. The sleeves are in contrasting blues with traditional Japanese village and landscape designs. They can be rolled up to reveal the same silk as the collar. 5 buttons line the front.

All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. The fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. The very special fabrics used in this 'hitoe' were woven and stenciled by Japanese artisans.
