The Guardians began as a midnight offering — created at our studio in the small hours of a sleepless night, and pieced together by hand like a little prayer made of paper wings. At the heart of our design are the enchantingly beautiful angels from artist Edward Burne-Jones’ The Days of Creation series, collaged together in to a sweeping procession, their feathered wings folded around them, and each with a world cradled in their arms. We added a velvety night sky and a crescent moon from an 1800’s celestial lithograph, and wild branches and vines taken from a 17th century Italian pastoral etching. The trim features a vintage William Morris golden floral pattern, interwoven with stars borrowed from an antique Victorian book cover. The resulting print is our tribute to the mystery and tenderness of unseen guardians, and to the acts of grace that hold us up when we falter. Whether you believe in divine messengers or the strength we find in each other, The Guardians is a reminder that we never walk alone. Light surrounds you, and wings are always near.

The adjustable straps, oversized cut, and soft, flowy bamboo viscose make our Bohéme dresses a wardrobe staple for layering, running errands, dancing, lounging or napping — and they’re also a must-have for travel, wherever you roam. You can also wear this piece two ways, with the moon on the front of the bodice, or the back — depending on your mood.

Please note: The nature of our soft bamboo/wood viscose means it’s slightly sheer, so we recommend layering it with our Étoile slip (or any other slip you have) when wearing it with bare legs. Our model in the photos is wearing the dress without a slip. Shown worn with our Guardians Matinée Duster. (sold separately). This piece is also reversible.

100% viscose (derived from plant fibres such as bamboo and wood). Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.

We take all our measurements on a garment lying flat. Approximate measurements w/ Adjustable Straps: S/M — length 132cm at shortest strap adjustment, 142cm at longest. Width 52cm (across bust, underarm to underarm), 54cm (across waist seam). L/XL — 134 cm length at shortest strap adjustment, 144cm at longest. Width 57cm (across bust, underarm to underarm), 59 cm (across waist seam).
