Our Persephone is luminous and self-possessed — a woman who walks between worlds on her own terms, carrying her light with her. At the heart of this piece is Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s captivating 19th-century portrait Proserpine (the Roman name for Persephone), her calm, steady gaze and fiery hair glowing against a velvet night sky. We’ve framed her in silken drapery, tapestries, trailing ivy, and stars, creating a scene that is rich, romantic, and commanding.
