Hurricane Melissa slammed into the Caribbean on Tuesday as a catastrophic Category 5 storm, matching the record for the strongest Atlantic hurricane landfall in history. The storm’s deadly path has left widespread destruction across Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic as well.

As with most disasters, nonprofits emphasize that monetary donations are the most effective form of help, as unsolicited goods often strain already overburdened systems.

Proceeds from the sale of Jamaican Bellflower, Night-Scented Orchid, and October 35 benefit Direct Relief, which supports the Caribbean with medical aid and supplies and supports health facilities in the region.
