About:Grapefruit adds its bright zing to the herbal, hay-like combination of coumarin and henna while a dark rose accord is the depth and body. Cetalox adds dry sweetness to the labdanum and vanilla, turning it into light incense and clean skin-musk.

This fragrance was inspired by the lyrics of the band Junius, and by extension, the European occult movement of the late 1800s, and the birth of the New Age Movement in the 1960s. Junius has been writing about fringe occult subjects since their inception in the early 2000s. Their first album, Martyrdom of a Catastrophist, was about Immanuel Velikovsky, a pseudo-scientist that used Comparative Mythology to map celestial mechanics, and as per certain myths, insisted Earth had gone through periods of great catastrophe. Their later albums were a little less focused, but still about topics such as reincarnation, death, and samsara. I made the accords and notes of this fragrance correct, and then stepped back to make them slightly different. For example, rose and tonka is a vintage accord but instead of using coumarin, I used something similar that is a little more lactonic and has the tiniest aspect of mint. I wanted this fragrance to be a nod to the roots of these occult charlatans and their appropriation of things they didn’t really get, hence the slight changes.
