PUMPKIN SPICE CHEESESTEAK

A few years back, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab packed up its cauldrons and moved to Philadelphia, where we quickly discovered that the cheesesteak is less a sandwich than an entire culinary genre. Cheesesteak eggrolls, cheesesteak ravioli, cheesesteak fries, cheesesteak chimichangas... if you can turn something into a cheesesteak, someone in Philly has probably already done it. We're reasonably certain cheesesteak wooder ice exists and we intend to find it.

This struck us as remarkably similar to the pumpkin spice phenomenon. Every autumn, enterprising souls discover another product that has somehow escaped being flavored or scented with cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove and promptly corrects the oversight. As longtime perpetrators of pumpkin-related nonsense ourselves, we can hardly object.

It was only a matter of time before these two great traditions met.

Behold, Pumpkin Spice Cheesesteak: toasted pumpkin, sizzling steak, browned butter, and a freshly baked hoagie roll, all dressed up for Halloween with a generous helping of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove.
