From the maker
Move your fuel between canisters, for less than the weight of a penny! The Alpenflow weighs 2.4 grams (0.09 oz) and can move fuel at home or on the trail.
The hidden trick to this gadget is that camping fuel cans are mostly filled with liquid, with a small layer of vapor gas. By cooling (or gently warming) that vapor, you can push the liquid between canisters. This can be done at home with a refrigerator, or on trail with the sun.
This valve is compatible with any screw-on camping fuel valve, typically referred to as a Lindal B188 (or EN 417), even if corroded or cross-threaded.
Some Use Examples:
Packing two half-full canisters? Combine them!
Store sold out of 4oz canisters? Split an 8oz canister!
Friend run out of fuel on trail? Share a bit!
Hiker box full of corroded canisters? Empty then recycle them!
This product is designed, molded, and assembled in California. Patent Pending.
Disclaimers & Safety:
Never use a stove, oven, or flame to heat the donor can
Only transfer butane, isobutane, or a winter blend (up to 20% propane but never more)
Never fill past the original canister's fill level (~80%)
Fuel canisters are still illegal to fly with even if empty (I found out the expensive way)
For personal use only: USDOT 49 CFR §178.65 bans the transportation of refilled disposable canisters for commercial purposes in the United States
