I just cant even find words to describe how much I love this ring and the stone.... But I'll try.   Australian opal is easily my favorite type of opal. This is a "crystal" opal which means it is semi transparent and displays excellent play of color.  Because it is transparent, you get to see multiple layers of fire rolling across and through the stone. It is similar to Ethiopian opal in that manor, but it does not have the hydrophane issues. Crystal opal is highly stable over the long term.

My remarks on the opal:

This stone has a beautiful play of color from all directions. There are no dead spots, inclusions or pooch to be seen. It is semi transparent. I have oxidized the silver behind the stone to help make the fire pop a little more. Stones of this caliber are in high demand and are rare. I've priced this ring to be a good deal for a stone like this in a hand made setting.
