Boys don't cry -- the phrase that shaped a generation of emotional repression, now reversed. Tears rendered as a pop art statement: the image of male vulnerability treated with the visual language of comic books and street art rather than shame or sentimentality. The cultural conversation around masculinity and emotion has been in the walls of contemporary art since at least the 1990s. This deck places it on a skateboard -- a sport and culture historically defined by exactly the emotional codes being questioned. Printed in gallery-quality UV ink on Grade-A Canadian maple.
