Samson appears in Judges 13–16 as a Nazirite judge of Israel gifted with extraordinary physical strength — strength tied, according to the text, to his uncut hair. Before meeting Delilah, before his capture and blinding, Samson encountered a young lion near the vineyards of Timnah and tore it apart with his bare hands. It is one of the rawest displays of divine power in the Hebrew Bible. This version fills the entire deck with the clash of man and beast — Samson's form locked against the lion, the earth cracked dry beneath them, a halo marking him as chosen. About this deck
