From the maker

The Maneki-neko (beckoning cat) is a Japanese ceramic figurine that has been a symbol of good luck in shops and homes since the Edo period (17th-19th century). The raised paw beckons customers and fortune. Left paw raised attracts customers; right paw raised attracts wealth. The figurine appears across Japan and is especially associated with the Gotokuji Temple in Tokyo, where hundreds of ceramic cats are offered as votive gifts. About this triptych
