The Carolina Reaper has a strong fruity and sweet flavour, followed by a delayed heat that kicks in. It has a special mix of citrusy and smoky tastes, making it a flavour you will remember.

This pepper is so spicy that it scores a whopping 1,641,183 SHU on the Scoville scale, which means it’s extremely hot! The Carolina Reaper looks unique with its bright red colour and bumpy skin.

Chilli 2: THSC Chocolate Trinidad Scorpion

With a complex flavour profile, the Hippy Seed Company’s Chocolate Trinidad Scorpion (THSC) chilli presents a blend of fruity, smoky, and earthy undertones, creating an intense sensory experience. Scorching the Scoville scale at a staggering 1.5 to 2 million units, this chilli fits into the “Extremely Hot” category.

The peppers display a deep chocolate brown hue, with a distinct wrinkled and tapered shape. The texture leans towards tender and the flavour, once ripe, exudes a combination of sweetness and intense heat.

The Yellow 7 Pod (Capsicum chinense) is a vigorous plant that grows up to 1 metre in pots or the ground, and can reach double that size in ideal conditions. It offers a sweet, fruity flavour with a fresh zesty note, making it a standout in cooking. Known for its extreme heat, it ranges from 800,000 to 1,200,000 SHU, so it should be used with caution. The plant is lush and bushy with large green leaves, producing big pods that ripen from green to bright yellow.

The 7 Pod Barrackpore (Capsicum chinense) is an extremely hot chilli known for its sweet, classic 7 Pod flavour followed by a rapidly intensifying burn. With a scorching 1,000,000–1,300,000 SHU, it’s firmly in the “insanely hot” category. The pods are wrinkled with a small tail, ripening from green to bright red. The plant grows to about 1 metre in pots, becoming larger and more productive when planted in the ground.
