Beyond the battlefield, Guan Yu is remembered in Chinese art and legend as a scholar-warrior: nights spent reading the Spring and Autumn Annals by lamplight, a green robe over his armour, a calm and studious expression at odds with his reputation as a general. This dual identity -- fierce in war, disciplined in study -- is why he is invoked for both protection and integrity, worshipped alongside Confucius in some traditions as a model of loyalty and self-cultivation. This design draws on that quieter, more contemplative side of his iconography, rendered in a modern illustrative style. About this deck
