This hauntingly delicate dress is inspired by the underpinnings Ellen Hutter wears beneath her striped dress in Focus Features’ new adaptation NOSFERATU, revealed in the moment she tears herself free of it. We combined a petticoat and underpinning into one crisp bodiced dress in bone white, bringing a garment meant to stay hidden into the light. A self-fabric baby ruffle trims the neckline, lending the silhouette an air of innocence that feels almost too fragile for the darkness closing in around her.

In the early Victorian era, undergarments were a private world, never meant to be seen, and this dress carries that same quiet intimacy. Crafted from a rayon, linen, and cotton blend, the double-layered bodice is boned at the sides for structure and support. Gathered shoulders with elastic at the back and a smocked back bodice allow for a softer, adjustable fit, and a separate self-fabric belt ties at the front to cinch the waist.

The skirt is fully lined in cotton and falls at tea length, closing with a center back YKK bridal zipper. And, most importantly, it has pockets. Modest at first glance, it holds the secret of what lies beneath.
