A Baltic sunrise with a folk art sun motif -- the solar cross and stylised sun symbol that appears across Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian folk art, textile, and woodwork traditions. The Baltic sun cross (saule in Lithuanian) is one of the oldest symbols in the region, predating Christianity and persisting through it. During the Soviet occupation of the Baltic states, folk art symbols like this became quiet acts of cultural resistance. The sunrise composition brings the symbol back into the light.
