Tanzanites. Unrivalled in their beauty, these blue stones with vivid flashes of violet are a stone unlike any other, and since their relatively recent discovery, they have become both very valuable and highly sought after.

They are also a goldsmith's nightmare. Not only are they expensive stones, they are prone to damage - easy to scratch and easy to chip. We have been working with tanzanites since they first came onto the market (late 60s, early 70s) and with each piece we are commissioned to create comes a firm warning - tanzanites are lovely, but they are not for every day wear.

Still, the heart wants what the heart wants, and Eva's heart wanted a tanzanite - to be more precise, Eva wanted a goldsmith who was both willing and able to work with her large 8.0ct stone. Together we designed a breathtaking diamond and platinum setting that would show off this regal stone, while at the same time protecting it as much as possible from the occasional bump and knock.
