Raw brass and silver plate will tarnish naturally. On raw brass, tarnish can be removed with a polishing cloth. Ring measures approximately 1/4" wide. Size is approximately 6.5 when completely closed and can be adjusted +/- 2 sizes by gently squeezing or pulling the ends apart. To make the ring smaller, it must overlap in the back.
