Blueprint Fire Hydrant -- a fire hydrant redrawn in the visual language of technical blueprints: precise white linework on blue, the street object treated as an engineering component. The fire hydrant has been a subject of contemporary art -- Koons cast one in stainless steel -- and street culture: in New York, opening a hydrant in summer is a cultural ritual and a mild crime simultaneously. In blueprint form, the hydrant returns to what it always was: a designed object with a specific function, now drawn with the precision that function deserves.
