This stunning dinner plate was handmade in Santa Cruz de Cachán, a coastal town in Michoacán known for its barro alisiado tradition. Created on a rustic lathe and burnished by hand with a smooth river stone, the plate’s warm tone and natural sheen come entirely from the clay itself without glazes or dyes. Two carved fish swim across the rim, blending subtle detail with practical design.

Fired in a wood-burning kiln, each piece bears the traces of the flames that shaped it with subtle gray marks, deep red hues, and the occasional blackened edge. These fire-kissed details are a signature of the artisanal method used to make them. Use it for plating food or as a centerpiece, and bring a part of Michoacán’s coast into your home.
