A plagued guard hound clutches a heavy ring in his teeth. A blood-red Rhodolite garnet has been set in the bottom. Plague hound can be worn on a chain or hoop earring.

Plague Knight is a one of a kind mini collection of sterling silver pendants inspired by the medieval grotesque. In architecture, Grotesque figures, such as gargoyles, were believed to have the ability to ward off evil.

Each piece in the collection is covered in a dense hand-built studded surface that recalls both riveted medieval armor and the swollen buboes historically associated with bubonic plague imagery. Beneath that textured exterior are recognizable figures, knights, a unicorn, a hound, a working padlock with keys, and ceremonial armor elements, each cast in solid sterling silver and finished by hand in Portland, Oregon.

These pendants are tactile objects designed to be touched as much as worn. Each pendant is weighty and substantial, and its knobby surface makes it a pleasure to rub and hold.
