From the maker
While many remember Prince as a flamboyant, hyper-sexual icon, he was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and his faith has always had a big influence on his music. He explained the meaning of “Purple Rain” this way: “When there’s blood in the sky — red and blue equal purple. Purple rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love while letting your faith in God guide you through the purple rain.”
