Molcajetes, made out of basalt have been used for thousands of years by our ancestors, the greatest cooks. Today, we reclaim these roots and introduce these molcajetes (mortar) and tejoletle (pestle) made out of one piece of basalt rock to create the perfect accessory to your kitchen tools. This molcajete comes with a small carved wooden base for stability and design. The exquisite contrast between the basalt and parota will highlight all dishes and their complements.

Ideal for grinding food and spices. Heavy pestle helps make the perfect grind, blend, and mix. Lay with lettuce or banana leaves to use as an all purpose serving bowl.

Available in 3 sizes: Large, Medium, Small.

Measurements:Large: 11" diameter x 4.25 tall, base is 6" in diameter.  Medium: 9" diameter x 3.75" tall, base is 4.75 in diameter. Small: 7.5" diameter x 3" tall, base is 4" diameter.

Care: Although resistant to everyday use, molcajetes are not dishwasher safe. Clean with warm water and kitchen brush. Air dry. If possible, cure with rice before first use. Check out more about this in our care instructions page.
