Virgen de Barro Pigmentada handmade in Metepec, Estado de México
This sculpture of La Virgen de Guadalupe was handmade in Metepec, Estado de México, using barro pigmentado; a traditional technique in which every detail is modeled by hand, painted with mineral clay engobes, and fired to fix the color into the piece. Each flower and butterfly surrounding the figure is formed individually and placed with care, making this sculpture both devotional and deeply artisanal.
La Virgen de Guadalupe is Mexico’s patron saint, beloved by many for her symbolism of protection, hope, and maternal care. This sculpture is ideal for home altars or quiet devotional spaces and makes a thoughtful gift for those who honor her presence.
