This hand-painted ceramic vase is a masterpiece of Michoacán craftsmanship, handmade in Zinapécuaro using time-honored techniques passed down through generations. The artisan burnishes the clay with river stones and fires it slowly in a traditional wood oven, creating its distinctive dark, lustrous surface.

Delicate white and cobalt blue motifs, ribbons, zigzags, petals, and dots are hand-painted using mineral-based pigments through the negative imprint technique. The piece is pulled from the fire, cooled, painted, then returned to smoke, deepening the contrast and embedding the design into the clay.
