From the maker
Common German coin similar size to English crown. This example is from the Hesse-Cassel region. This coin was issued under Friedrich II (1760-85) and minted from the silver paid to him by the British for mercenaries who fought in the American Revolution. The originals were silver, ours are made of lead-free pewter.
