Some nights just stay with you.

Halloween 86 isn’t simply a Halloween scent. It’s a memory of what Halloween felt like when we were kids.

The idea came from one of my best friends, Marcus Klinger of The Barbershop Duet. Marcus has a gift for taking a memory—something you can almost see, hear, and smell—and turning it into a scent idea. He was the spark behind Rookie Card. He and I dreamed up Triple Dog Dare while spitballing ideas for Blizzard Battles. And then one day, Marcus painted another picture.

Trick-or-treat night. Sometime in the 1980s.

It’s dark, but the neighborhood is alive. Porch lights glow up and down the street. Jack-o’-lanterns flicker on front steps, and you can smell freshly carved pumpkin hanging in the cool October air.

You’re wearing one of those costumes we all remember. Maybe it’s the plastic outfit and hard mask with the little elastic string digging into the back of your head. Maybe Mom covered your face in makeup so you could be a pirate, a monster, or a werewolf. Maybe somebody emptied half a can of hairspray getting ready.

Probably all of the above.

You hit the sidewalk with your friends, carrying a plastic pumpkin full of candy. Fallen leaves crunch under your shoes. There’s the smell of grass and hay somewhere in the background. The night air is cool and clean.

Then a car rolls slowly down the street.

For just a moment, that unmistakable hint of gasoline mixes with everything else—the pumpkins, grass, makeup, hairspray, fallen leaves and cold night air.

And somehow, that was Halloween.

Not one particular Halloween. Not one particular street. It’s that strange collection of little details that, decades later, can suddenly take you right back there.

That is Halloween 86.

This scent is our attempt to bottle that glorious, spectacular night—and it’s also a nod to the friend who dreamed it up. At this point, Marcus might as well be the unofficial creative director of Adopted Acres Soap Co.

EIEIO Shave Soap Base

Farm-raised fats. Serious shave performance.

EIEIO is the shave soap base that feels most like Adopted Acres.

Built around a rich blend of Wagyu beef tallow, duck fat, and lard, EIEIO takes traditional animal-fat shaving soap and pushes it toward the kind of performance we want from a modern artisan base: dense lather, excellent protection, lasting slickness, and a post-shave feel that doesn’t disappear when the razor is put away.

The name may be playful. The formulation isn’t.

What makes EIEIO different?

Each of the fats brings something different to the shave. Tallow provides the rich, creamy foundation and cushion. Lard contributes to the dense, stable character of the lather, while duck fat and Wagyu tallow help give EIEIO its luxurious skin feel and residual slickness.

The result is a soap that builds into a thick, low-bubble, protective lather with plenty of glide for multiple passes. Even after the visible lather has been removed, there’s enough residual slickness for touch-ups without immediately reaching for the brush again.

We finish EIEIO with aloe vera juice and glycerin to help give the soap its soft, easy-loading consistency while adding to the hydrated feel of the finished shave.

Made for shaving—not just lather pictures.

A giant bowl of pretty foam doesn’t mean much if your razor doesn’t like what’s underneath it.

EIEIO was developed with the actual shave as the priority: cushion, razor glide, residual slickness, protection, and post-shave skin feel. It’s forgiving with water, easy to load, and capable of producing the dense, glossy lather we look for in a great shaving soap.

And like everything at Adopted Acres, there’s a little bit of the farm behind it.
