Papel Amate Bookmark Handpainted in Xalitla, Guerrero.
A story within a story! These handpainted bookmarks were made by Xalitla artisans who, since prehispanic times, have used papael amate (amate paper), which comes from the bark of a tree, to paint their narratives, surroundings, and folk tales. These pieces of art depict are a small piece of true Xalitla culture.
