From the maker
The veil went on for the funeral. She has not taken it off.
Maelith is the one who moves. Where the king holds his ground she drifts, sleeves shredding to points behind her and the hem of the gown pulling out into long ribbons that never quite touch the floor. The crown sits over the veil rather than under it, which is the detail that sells her: nobody dressed her, she assembled herself out of what she was buried in. Her hands are the other half of the sculpt. The fingers are long and hooked and held open, ready rather than reaching, which reads as far more dangerous than a raised weapon would.
A Sculpt With Two Faces: From the front the hood frames a gaunt face and a buttoned bodice worth picking out. From the back the veil covers everything and the crown is the only thing left, which is a genuinely unsettling silhouette on the table. Paint the front for close inspection and the back for the reveal, and both angles earn it.
