From the maker
Someone in my building died and I only found out from the dumpster, full of one person's stuff, the kind you get rid of all at once for one reason. No email from management, no text, no note under the door. Just a new unit that opened up on their website once the cleaners finished a week later. It seemed sad at first, but then I thought about it and realized I wouldn't want the people I spent years pretending not to see to be handed the news of me. I ignored them and built a life to never need anything from them. Why would I need their sympathy in death? It would be strange to need them at the end. A dumpster, then new curtains, and the courtesy of not being noticed.
