From the maker
Squared up, head level, already looking at you.
This is the wolf that has stopped moving. All four legs are planted, the body is side-on and the head has turned toward the viewer with the jaws open. It reads as the moment before a charge rather than the charge itself, which makes it useful for a DM who wants to give the party one round to react before anything actually happens.
A Coat With Two Speeds: The fur is cut as long smooth sweeps across the body with the heavy detail concentrated at the ruff, the haunch and the tail. That keeps the silhouette clean at tabletop distance while giving you three dense areas where a wash does real work. The large uninterrupted flank is where a wolf paint job is won or lost, so it is worth a proper gradient. The snow-drift base is sculpted as low mounds and takes a white drybrush directly, with no basing materials needed.
